MitoQ Skin Boosting Active Night Cream

I have long been a fan of the original MitoQ serum. I remember when all of the positive reviews on TIA finally incited me to make the splurge. It was the most I had ever spent on a product at the time, and the results were so fabulous that I ended up buying many more bottles over the years. It was my go-to, one-and-only, desert-island product that seemed to transform the look and health of my skin. And so, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that MitoQ had launched a whole range of products.

But to be completely honest, the new range was a bit overwhelming. How could I choose? What did I need? Should I even stray from the tried-and-true serum that I had been using? Luckily, I was fortunate enough to be sent a bottle of the MitoQ Skin Boosting Active Night Cream ($145 in the shop) for TIA testing.

Before I get into the review, let me give you a little background on the test subject — me. I am 43 years old and my skin is probably the healthiest that it’s ever been. It’s normal to dry with some fine lines emerging. It tends to get a bit congested around my chin each month, but usually doesn’t break out. I’m looking for products that keep it glowy, plump and youthful, and like most of us, I want to see real tangible results!

MitoQ is an interesting product line with active antioxidant components that target mitochondria. Mitochondria are responsible for providing the necessary energy for cell activity, so that they can function properly and efficiently. As explained by Marta, the active antioxidant component of MitoQ, mitoquinone mesylate, is actually ubiquinone, the active antioxidant in Coenzyme Q10. Apparently, this antioxidant re-engerizes our cells to keep them fresh and healthy. The Night Cream also has Matrixyl Synthe’6®, which is a wrinkle-smoothing peptide that helps stimulate the rebuilding of collagen and elastin in the skin.

The consistency of the cream is quite similar to the original product, although I found it to be slightly thicker. Upon first using, I wasn’t quite sure I liked it. For some reason, my face felt a little tight — not in a good way — after applying it. I could feel it drying on my skin, and I felt like I needed to put a facial oil on top. I paid close attention that first week, and I wasn’t feeling the love. But something changed after the first week or so: My skin started to feel incredibly hydrated — not like when you slather cream on your face and it's superficially moisturized, but deeply hydrated. All signs of dryness were gone. And with hydrated skin comes plump and dewy skin that radiates.

After 30 days, I can confidently say that this product has been wonderful for my skin. It’s clear and bright and feels almost as if it’s thicker and stronger. The results are definitely noticeable. I am starting to feel like I can’t be without this powerful product in my arsenal. And while it’s certainly a splurge, it seems to last awhile. After 30 days, I still have a lot left. One pump is enough to cover my whole face and neck. Looks like MitoQ has done it again!
